Skill. Energy. Passion.
The gym at AG Financial Arena in Springfield, Missouri, was packed with energy as the top 50 high school girls basketball players in Southwest Missouri took the floor at the 2025
417 Elite 50 Showcase - one of the region's premier exposure events for rising athletes.
Lockdown Defense Sets the Tone
The girls' showcase wasn't just about scoring - it was about grit and defense. Carly Catlett (Kickapoo High School), Sadie Schober (Mountain Grove High School), Sa'Naih Johnson (Hillcrest High School), and Kinley Cryer (Hartville High School) all turned heads with their defensive intensity and ball pressure.
The defensive intensity was unmatched, proving that the talent in Southwest Missouri runs deep and disciplined.
Character is Key for Culture
Players that bring a strong work ethic and positive outlook can impact a program and an event. There were many players that would fit the criteria; however, Saylor Johnson (Reeds Spring High School), Rowan Kelly (Mountain Grove High School), and Addy Gray (Norwood High School) were players that stood out. They impacted the event by consistently lifting others up and building a positive culture.
Standout Performers:
2026
Chloe Jones (Willow Springs High School): Chloe's game was on full display. No one could contain her in transition. She was making plays and scoring however she wanted. The Evangel commit from WIllow Springs is a must see this season.
Gentry Davault (Norwood High School): Gentry has the size (6'2) and skill to dominate in the low post but her shooting and passing ability from the high post was on full display. She competed for every rebound and gave her team multiple posessions on the offensive glass.
Eden Kibby (Rogersville High School): Eden's ability to catch and shoot was unmatched. She can score with the best of them and has the ability to heat up in a hurry. She had multiple posessions of back-to-back buckets.
Zoe Scharnhorst (West Plains High School): If coaches were grading hustle and heart, Zoe would get an A+. Her energy impacted her team to perform at a higher level. She was a crowd favorite that was making big plays on both ends of the floor.
Kylie Fitzwater (Reeds Spring High School): Playing hard is a skillset that Kylie has mastered. She had defensive intensity, grabbed boards, and was on the floor for loose balls, not to mention she can score. She was making all of the plays that coaches love.
2027
Bristol Lathrop (Ash Grove High School): Bristol had a great summer picking up interest and offers from D1 schools across the midwest. This offseason, she added muscle and athleticism to her 6'2 frame, allowing her to dominate inside and out. Bristol will no doubt add to her already long list of colleges pursuing her this year.
Lillie Moore (Hillcrest High School): Lillie is much improved from last year. She has improved her first step and is finishing through contact as well as anyone in the area. Watch for Lillie to lead the Hillcrest Lady Hornets to another stellar year.
Millison Sapp (Ash Grove High School): Millison was as fast as anyone on the floor. She demonstrated that she is an elite playmaker. Millison has the ability to break down the defense and make precision passes as well as knock down shots.
Hayleigh Burres (Stockton High School): Hayleigh showed her speed and athleticism at the showcase. She was applying a ton of pressure on the defense by pushing hard and making plays in transition.
Nayarah Shockley (HIllcrest High School): Nayarah showed that she has great footwork in her post game. With her ability to create angles and finish around the rim, she can dominate the paint. For a post player, she has great perimeter touch which allows her to stretch the defense.
Addison Cleghorn (Rogersville High School): Addison was knocking down shots and attacking the basket as well as anyone at the showcase. With her game IQ and defensive intensity, she has a chance to be another standout player from Rogersville.
Serenity Johnson (Hillcrest High School): Serenity can stretch the defense with her perimeter shooting and has a great first step to get to the rim off of the dribble. Her name will be circled on every coaches scouting report because she is a smooth playmaker than can drop 40 on you before you realize it.
2028
Ryleigh Davis (Thayer High School): Last year Ryleigh came to the event as a solid freshman, this year a superstar sophomore. Her game continues to exponentially grow from year to year. If she continues this trajectory, she has the potential to become one of the all-time greats to come out of Southwest Missouri.
Alyssa Newman (Greenwood High School): Many were unfamiliar with Alyssa before the showcase but quickly got acquainted when she began to showcase her skills. Her game spoke loudly with the lingering thought that she may be the next big name to come out of Greenwood.
Bella Argo (Clever High School): Bella has a ton of potential, and we got to see a glimpse of it at the showcase. With her height and length, she was effective on both ends of the floor. Bella has a great touch to her shot and her athleticism allowed her to deflect passes and shots all afternoon.
2029
Madelyn Leivan (Miller High School): Remember her name. She's going to be good, really good. The Miller freshman played like a seasoned varsity player. She demonstrated a high game IQ, defensive discipline, and the ability to score inside and out.
Players to keep an eye on this season:
Dorthea Duncan 2027 (Glendale High School)
Claire Rains 2027 (Sparta High School)
Camdyn Randall 2027 (Glendale High School)
Abigail Hilt 2028 (West Plains High School)
